The spare parts of slurry pumps are made by high-chromium white cast iron to show a high wear resistance in the abrasive working environment. To keep the properties of this material as a back-up solution for laser cladding, the chemical composition, microstructure, and hardness of samples from a copper ore mining company’s slurry pump are investigated for characterization as a substrate for the laser cladding process.
