The presentation was held during an international workshop held online, hosted by HTW Dresden. HTW Dresden has a lot of experience in the application of technologies in archaeology and cooperated a
with many archaeological projects and institutions to provide them with technological expertise . However,
as these technologies permeate archaeology more and more and become standards for recording,
documenting and teaching archaeological cultural heritage, a need for staff specialized both in
archaeology and digital technologies arises. To meet this demand, HTW Dresden and its partners are
working toward developing a new master’s degree in applied computer and geosciences in archaeology.
The presentation will explore the demand in the field and its job market and draw an outline, how a degree
can be designed to meet this demand.
