A significant effect of the legally binding time recording is the mandatory documentation of working hours and overtime since 2023, which specifies the entitlement to time off in lieu for medical staff. This study highlights relevant aspects and challenges that will remain important for the field of work even after the introduction of legally binding time recording. The study, conducted by the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, TU Dresden Dresden, provides the basis for scientifically evaluating the effects of time recording and using employee feedback to improve working conditions in surgical teams.
