On the Greifswald Oie, a total of five species of bird louse flies were detected during scientific bird ringing between 2016 and 2019. The sex ratio is dominated by female louse flies in each species. Phoresy rate ranged from 0.7% for Stenepteryx hirundinis to 5.5% for Ornithomya avicularia. The number of host bird species detected so far is 33. Nine species are found in the preliminary checklist for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, although the louse fly fauna of this federal state is still very insufficiently researched overall. The record of the monoxenous Ornithomya biloba normally parasitizing on barn swallows (Hirundo rustica), on a water rail (Rallus aquaticus) is remarkable.
