Abstract

  • Basic investigations have been carried out for identifying constituents (moisture, crude protein, water-soluble carbohydrates) in crops in a round baler by using a near infrared spectrometer. For this purpose a test bench was developed and built, which allowed measurements of pressed bales or bulk crop. The results for prediction on bulk crop showed deviations for the moisture content of approximately +/- 3 % points and for crude protein and water-soluble carbohydrates (sugars) contents of about +/- 1 % points. The accuracy on investigating the ingredient contents in bales was less accurate.
