Abstract

  • Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is currently been investigated as one viable solution for high capacity short range indoor systems. It promises robust communications in dense multipath environment, potentially low cost and low power implementation and high bit rates achievable. In this paper the performance of a non-coherent UWB receiver in terms of error ratios as well as ranging precision is presented. The receiver represents a low complexity low data rate - location and tracking (LDR-LT) UWB system example. The application scenario includes the effect of path-dependent pulse distortion and therefore takes into account realistic propagation environment
